Fitness and fun at the SDC -- Michigan Tech's Student Development Complex provides a wide range of recreation and fitness programs to keep you healthy, fit and entertained. From our well-appointed and air-conditioned fitness center, to our outdoor ski and mountain bike trails, the SDC provides year-round opportunities for fun.

Michigan Tech students use the SDC as part of their student fees, while faculty, staff and community members pay a reasonable fee. SDC facilities include:

Fitness Center -- Open seven days a week, the fitness center has the latest in cardio equipment (including treadmills, elliptical machines, rowing machines and bikes), free weights, weight machines, resistance bands, medicine balls and stability balls .

Ice Arena -- Ice available for rent July-March. Public skating offered on Sundays from 8:00-9:20 p.m. September-February.

Multi-Purpose Room -- In many ways, the "multi" is the hub of the SDC. Students and community members enjoy pick-up basketball and volleyball games, there is a climbing wall, and a track available for runners and walkers.

Outdoor Activities -- Michigan Tech has a nationally recognized Nordic ski trail system, along with miles of mountain bike trails in the summer. It's a great place to enjoy our spectacular winters and to stay in shape year-round. Convenient day passes are available for purchase at the SDC Ticket Office or at the trail head using the pipe.

Racquetball and Squash -- The SDC has four racquetball courts and a squash court.  Court reservations may be made one day in advance by calling 487-2761.

Swimming Pool -- The pool is open several times daily for fitness lap and open swim. Michigan Tech's intramural water polo league uses the dive tank, and there are swimming lessons for kids and aqua fit sessions for adults.
