Participants stay on Michigan Tech's campus in McNair Hall, only a short walk from the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The McNair Hall cafeteria provides three balanced meals each day.

Participants room with members of their own age group and may request roommates.

Rooms in McNair Hall are furnished with bunk beds, dressers, and desks. They are not air-conditioned, so participants are encouraged to bring a fan. Linens, pillows, and blankets are provided. Restrooms and showers are conveniently located on each floor. Participants must supply their own towels. Each residence hall has lounges, cable TV, and a recreation room.Laundry facilities are available. Participants must bring their own laundry supplies.

Plan B (Commuter)

Plan B (Commuter) participants eat lunch and dinner meals in McNair Hall Monday through Thursday and lunch on Friday.

Mites will be Plan B only.

Whether in or out of the residence hall, participants receive round-the-clock supervision by Michigan Tech Hockey Development Center personnel.

Meal Tickets

Meal tickets are available for purchase at the SDC Central Ticket Office or McNair Hall front desk (cash only) for any parents and/or family members who wish to eat with their camp participant.

To take a student to eat off-campus, parents or guardians must notify the counselor coordinator and sign a release form. Please return the participant at designated times.

Check-In

Check-in for Weeks 1-6 will be from 2:00-4:00 PM (EST) on Sunday at the information desk located inside the main entrance of the Student Development Complex (SDC). Plan A (Live-In) participants will then be directed to McNair Hall.

For Week 7, check-in is on Sunday, August 1, from 3:30-4:30 PM (EST) for Mites, 4:00-5:00 PM (EST) for Squirts, and 4:30-5:30 PM (EST) for PeeWees.

Late arrivals should report first to McNair Hall and check in at the front desk, then go to the SDC Ticket Office to get schedule information, remit outstanding payments, or provide any information not yet submitted. If you arrive after the hall closes for the evening, please contact Public Safety at (906)487-2216.

Check-Out

Hockey school concludes each Friday from 1:45-4:45 PM (depending on the division a participant is in). Following their final scrimmage, Plan A (Live-In) participants will return to McNair Hall for check-out. Linens and keys will be turned in at this time. There is a $50 fee for lost keys.

Plan B (Commuter) participants may be picked up at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

Early Arrivals/Late Departures

All early arrivals and late departures are subject to the HDC Director's approval, and an additional $50 fee per night will be charged. Early arrivals consist of any student checking in prior to the 2:00 PM Sunday registration. If the arrival/departure also necessitates transportation to/from the airport or bus station, please provide a written itinerary to the HDC no later than two weeks prior to camp.

Conduct Code

MIchigan Tech Hockey Development Center provides recreational and social opportunities in a relaxed atmosphere. However, participants must follow certain rules which will be explained in the Sunday night lecture session. Chief among these are a ban on the use or possession of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, or illegal drugs. In addition, participants must not leave their groups. Those who fail to follow these rules will be expelled, and the fees paid will be forfeited.

Eligibility

NCAA rules do not allow the Hockey Development Center to accept students who have graduated from high school.

Michigan Tech reserves the right to move students to a higher or lower group for the benefit of the student and the Center. Trades may be made to balance the teams.

Player Evaluations

At the conclusion of school, players will receive evaluations from their instructors. Parents are urged to attend informal conferences with the instructors following Friday's game.

The off-ice training program also provides a testing evaluation. Players should give their evaluations to their coaches at the beginning of their hockey season.

Medical Services

The Hockey Development Center has certified athletic trainers on staff. The Portage Medical Clinic (906-483-1860), located in the Student Development Complex, offers medical services to students, as well as the public.

Two-Weekers

Students receive excellent supervision during the weekend between sessions. Supervision is free for two-weekers only. Each week of attendance requires a separate application.

Arrivals/Departures

We can meet the bus or plane at your child's arrival or departure. Contact the Hockey Development Center with the information and fax (906-487-3607) a copy of the plane or bus itinerary at least two weeks prior to camp.

Travel Problems

If you have any problems enroute after business hours, call Public Safety (after 5:00 PM or on weekends) at 906-487-2216.
